Job Summary/Basic Function:

This position provides support to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Senior Coordinator for Academic Affairs. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

1. Maintaining professional and friendly presence at the front desk.

2. Answering the telephone, directing calls, and taking detailed messages in an appropriate manner using a multiline phone system.

3. Directing callers and visitors to the proper departments and answering general questions about various campus policies and procedures as needed.

4. Copying and scanning documents, filing, shredding, and editing/proof reading documents and assisting with record keeping and data entry

5. Maintaining inventory of office supplies

6. Scheduling appointments for the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and for the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

7. Coordinating with facilities management regarding building maintenance and repairs.

8. Modifying and updating various internal documents, reports and publications.

9. Receiving student forms and routing to appropriate personnel or department.

10. Monitoring and updating the Academic Affairs area of the GSC website as needed.

11. Assisting with the planning and implementation events such as of graduation ceremonies, meetings with off-campus visitors, and other GSC events as needed.

12. Maintaining the confidentiality of Academic Affairs correspondence and business.

13. Performing related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in at least 6 academic hours per semester.
• Must have attended Gordon State College for at least one semester.
• Must demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence.
• Must possess professional appearance/manner.
• Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills.
• Must be familiar with college rules and procedures.
• Must possess intermediate knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
